Wow, What a great move getting in CVTX under $9 and again a few weeks ago as it crossed $10.

Today, Astellas (a Japanese Pharma) announced a hostile offer of $16 per share for CVTX.

CVTX opened at $16.60 and has been hanging around the $16.20 mark all morning.

My opinion here is that CVTX will succumb to a higher offer, either from Astellas or another larger Pharma at the $18-20 mark.

The April $10 calls that I recc. at $1.50 and said would quadruple to $6.00 each are now Over that, at $6.25 each. Sell them here, take those profits and wait a day or so, as CVTX may turn down Astellas, "saying" they want to remain private and the stock may pull back to the $15 area where we will revisit some speculative plays on another, higher offer.

All in all, a great trade in less than 3 months on the stock and the April calls.

CVTX is breaking out nicely to the upside and has been creeping up all week against a down market.

This looks potentially explosive here.

It is now at $10.65 and looks like the steam is really building here. A move to the $14 area looks imminent.

The April $10 calls that have held their value since I reccomended them a month ago at $1.50 are at $1.85 now and I expect at least $4 each over the next month. (They got as low as $1.10)

You could even buy the February $10 calls here at $1.25 if you can get them.

THIS is the time to pile on a stock as the train leaves the station

Scripts were reported for Ranexa today that showed 25% gains from the prior week and a new record on all fronts of renewals and total scripts written for the week of December 5th, 2008

This link will show a record of scripts for Ranexa since launch as well as the stock price in comparison to the surge in prescriptions for this now "front line" defense against angina:

Quite interesting to see the build in this drugs script base as it now greatly expands it's label usage against a wider audience and as Europe starts ramping up as well.

The April $10 calls I reccomended 12 days ago at $1.50 are now bid $1.20 to $1.50. The open interest is only 435 contracts, although I expect that to grow dramatically as we move into 2009.

As soon as the December options series expires Friday I will start looking at the February series of options as they start and if I can get the Feb $10 calls for under $.50 I may take a shot there as I wouldn't be surprised to see a move to $14 or so at some point.

Again, I traded CVTX before, many years ago and I have seen this stock pop/gap bigtime, while I was in it, as it lulled everyone to sleep thinking it was controlled by market makers.

Nothing can take the place of panic short covering, good news and Investment bank upgrades... Especially when you are long stock and options.

Gotta be in em' to win em'

CVTX is a MUST OWN here...

Why is the 1st post I am doing a Stock Pick?

Because it is SO compelling, I want my name on this under $9 a share.

Listen to this conference call and tell me that you don't think this company is going places:

I predict (and I'm not alone) that a Major US Pharma company will step up (soon I think... REALLY) and scoop this firm up and do so at a nice premium.

Today's close was $8.92. I wouldn't be surprised to see a BMY or a JNJ step in here at $18-20 at a minimum to grab the whole firm.

Color me VERY long here under $9 and also color me Very long the April $10 calls @ $1.50 (in option lingo) or $150 each in the real world. These will be worth $100 each for every point CXVTX is OVER $10 by the 3rd Friday in April (the 17th)

My prediction is that CVTX will be $15-16 at a minimum at some point, between now and then, taking these options up over 4x their current price to a target of $6.00 or $600 each.

That's my opinion, that's what I am doing Now.
